The Washington Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons presents an annual meeting which is attended by approximately 150 ophthalmologists as well as approximately 350 ophthalmic personnel, practice managers and coding professionals. The physician program, which begins on Thursday night, March 5 and continues with a full day program on Friday, March 6, is rich and diverse.

I. Paul Singh, MD

Dr. I. Paul Singh, a Wisconsin native, joined The Eye Centers of Racine and Kenosha, founded in 1981 by his father, Dr. Kanwar A. Singh, in 2004 as the areas only glaucoma specialist, graduating from the Duke University glaucoma fellowship program. Throughout his Ophthalmology career, Dr. I. Paul Singh has been involved with clinical research and has published papers in several ophthalmology journals. He has also presented his research at various national meetings and universities around the world. Dr. I. Paul Singh has a passion for advancing education and technology. He has brought several new technologies to the area, through adoption and research. Dr. Singh is the first ophthalmologist in the state of Wisconsin to implant many of the glaucoma devices including the iStent and Hydrus glaucoma drainage devices, perform viscodilation and trabeculotomy with the OMNI device, and goniotomy with the Kahook Dual Blade, and recently the Streamline and iAccess devices as well as the iTrack Advance. He was also first to utilize the supraciliary stents such as MiniJect and Alloflo. Continuing the quest for advancing traditional glaucoma surgery, Dr. Paul was the first in Wisconsin to perform a subconjunctival bypass procedure using the Aqualumen device. Recently Dr. Singh was listed as one of the Top 100 ophthalmologists in the United States according to Newsweek magazine and was recently names on The Ophthalmologist to 10 list of Glaucoma specialists world wide.
Faruk H. Örge MD, MBA, FAAO, FAAP

Dr. Örge is the Dr. Boomer and Jill Burnstine Endowed Chair in Pediatric Ophthalmology, Director of Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus in Akron Children’s Hospital which is one of the few US News ranked Children’s Hospitals. He also is a Professor of Surgery at Northeast Ohio Medical University and Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University. After completing a research fellowship for 2 years, an internship, residency, and a clinical fellowship in Indiana University he opted to return to his country to serve as an academician in Yeditepe University. He has joined UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital 2007, and served as the Director, the William R. and Margaret E. Althans Chair and Professor in Pediatric Ophthalmology till 2025, Professor of Ophthalmology, Pediatrics and Biomedical Engineering in CWRU. He currently serves as the Vice President of AAPOS, Advisory Board Chairman of IPOSC, Co-Chair of Stop Infant Blindness in Africa.
Anita Agarwal, MD

Anita Agarwal, MD, is a Vitreoretinal consultant at West Coast Retina in San Francisco and Adjoint Professor of Ophthalmology at the Vanderbilt Eye Institute in Nashville. She received her medical degree from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, India, and completed ophthalmology residency and fellowship training at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh, India and the Universities of Florida, Vanderbilt, and West Virginia, USA.
Dr. Agarwal specializes in both medical and surgical vitreoretinal diseases and uveitis and has a special interest in uncommon and inherited retinal diseases. She is the author of the Fifth Edition of the Gass' Atlas of Macular Disease and has coauthored landmark research papers on the genetics of macular degeneration. She has delivered several named lectures and has been an invited speaker world-wide. She has received a few awards including the 2014 Gass medal from the Macula society, Honor and Senior Honor awards, and Secretariat awards from the AAO, Honor award from the ASRS, and the 2015 Optic UK Lecture Medal from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
She serves on the editorial boards of journals: Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology Retina, and Retina Cases and Brief Reports and is section editor for Diagnostic and Therapeutic Challenges of Retina.
Beeran Meghpara, MD

Beeran Meghpara, MD is the Director of Refractive Surgery and Co-Chief of the Cornea Service at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. His surgical expertise includes layer-specific corneal transplantation, refractive cataract surgery, and complex anterior segment repair.
Dr. Meghpara earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Following residency, he completed a fellowship in cornea, refractive surgery, and external disease at the University of Colorado.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Meghpara serves as a team ophthalmologist for the Philadelphia Phillies and is committed to resident and fellow education at Wills Eye Hospital, contributing to the training of the next generation of ophthalmologists.
OMIC Presentation:
Aaron Weingeist, MD & Jeannette Domask, MPH, CPHRM

Dr. Aaron P. Weingeist, Board-certified ophthalmologist, obtained his medical degree from The University of Iowa, Roy J. Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City, Iowa. He completed an internship in internal medicine followed by a three-year residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Weingeist specializes in refractive and cataract surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is certified in iLASIK surgery. He also treats eye diseases such as diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, as well as performs refractions for glasses and contact lenses

Jeannette Domask is a risk management professional with over 20 years of experience specializing in risk management and medical malpractice litigation. Most recently, she held a role focusing on risk management and patient safety in a hospital setting. Jeannette has a Master of Public Health and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM).
